Game Drives
Mazambala offers game drives in the Bwabwata National Park which
is noted for its huge herds of elephants - herds of several hundred
elephants are not uncommon. The park has a great variety of animals
including four of the “Big Five”. Game drives start
with a 10 - 15 minute cruise by boat down the river and then a transfer
to a game drive vehicle for a game drive on land in the park.
The game drive typically lasts about 4 hours, depending on the
elephants. Elephants often block the road which results in interesting
delays. Beer and cold drinks on the game drive are included in the
price.
Boat Cruises
These are leisurely floats, following a circular route and lasting
about two hours, on the crystal clear water of the Kwando River
and its labyrinth of papyrus and reed lined channels. See hippos,
Lechwes and a variety of other animals, and of course, many beautiful
birds. People especally enjoy the quiet and unspoiled nature on
the river. Beer and cold drinks are included.
Guided Nature Walks
Walks are offered on an uninhabited island fifteen minutes downstream
from the main lodge. A guide accompanies guests for up to 2 hours
on a walk through the bush explaining traditional medicinal uses
of the various trees and plants. Learn about tribal remedies for
cancer and snake bite, for example. This is a perfect opportunity
to spot birds and you may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse
of the rare Sitatunga antelope.
Bird Watching Tours
Mazambala and the Kwando flood plain are a real paradise for bird
lovers. In the garden of Mazambala more than 30 different species
are regularly observed. And, during a recent day trip 91 various
species were seen. Bird watching tours are tailor made to the wishes
of the participants.

Tiger game fish and other species such as Breem, Nembwe, Squeaker,
Barbel, etc. Boat hire is available at the lodge as well as fishing
gear and fishing licenses.

Lodge is 4km from the tarred road. Both are accessible by sedan
