Ai-Ais, which means "burning water" in one of the local
languages, refers to the sulphurous hot springs which are found
in this area. One of these springs has its eye within the camp.
/Ai-/Ais lies at the southern end of the Fish River conservation
area.
Ai-Ais Hotsprings Spa is located at the southern end of the Fish
River Canyon, Namibia and is built around a major sulphurous spring
in spectacular surroundings.
This resort in the Fish River Canyon, Namibia is part of the Ai-Ais
/ Richtersveld Transfrontier National Park which seeks to protect
and promote the unique, endangered plant life and cultural heritage
of this stunning area. The name Ai-Ais is derived from the Nama
language meaning “burning water”.
The Fish River Canyon, Namibia is an awe inspiring natural wonder

The Fish River Hiking Trail is a 90km (56 mile) backpacking adventure,
following the course of the river between sheer canyon walls. Canyon
depths can reach in excess of 500 metres (546 yards) at times. This
premier hiking trail starts at the northern-most view point and
ends at Ai-Ais Hotsprings Spa which is on the border with South
Africa.
