The Cañon Village, built in a Cape Dutch Cottage style,
fits snugly into mountainous surroundings to offer a birds eye view
of the splendid Gondwana Cañon Park. It affords easy access
to the Fish River Canyon, which is only 20 km away.
The Cañon Village consists of 28 comfortably appointed bungalows,
each with en-suite facilities and thatched roof. The Cañon
Village has a fully equipped restaurant with a magnificent view
of the granite boulders that throw deep shadows over the vast Canyon
landscape. A swimming pool with generous lapa provides much relief
to sun-drenched visitors.
The thatched restaurant, coffee shop and a rustic bar, all set
between massive granite boulders. Namibian artists have decorated
the walls of the restaurant, and the rural atmosphere is continued
in the chalets, depicting the daily life of the original inhabitants
of the area, the Bondelswart Nama. Alternatively, guests are welcome
to enjoy a break at the pool. It has magnificent views of the endless
plains of Gondwana Canyon Park.
The works of Namibian artists on the walls of the restaurant and
bungalows afford guests a glance into the lifestyle and culture
of the early inhabitants of this area – the Bondelswart-Nama.
A variety of activities are available, including horse riding, Sundowner
drives and splendid walking trails.
The lodge consists of 40 Cape-Dutch style chalets. They are all
equipped with en-suite bathrooms, a fan and mosquito nets.
On arrival, guests will have their luggage transported to their
accommodation by a traditional donkey and cart, all under the guidance
of a local family.
Yoghurt, cheese, cold meats as well as your breakfast eggs are
supplied by their own butchery, dairy and smokehouse, run by the
Self-Sufficiency Centre. Light lunches can be ordered from their
'a la carte' menu and in the evening several meat dishes, fresh
vegetables and a choice of salads are available. Their small farming
business also produces fruit, vegetables and herbs, fresh from their
own garden.
