Ohakane Guesthouse is situated in Opuwo, the administrative
capital of Namibia's Kaokoland region.
The Ohakane Guesthouse is named after the Ovahimba word for the
African Wild Dog (Lycaon pictus).
This wild animal has recently been added to the list of endangered
species in Namibia, after having been hunted virtually to extinction.
The Wild Dog has incredible stamina.
It is known for its tenacity and excellent group hunting skills
and is sometimes called the clown of the carnivores, on account
of its colourful, patched fur.
