You will stay in the newly renovated, charming and white washed
farmhouse in one of the four guest rooms. The farm has a citrus,
prickly pears and olive plantation as well as a garden with organically
grown vegetables and herbs.
There you find the ingredients for the fantastic home-made food
which is prepared by the host himself for the guest`s culinary pampering.
Home-made bread, cakes and pastry are as self- evident as the freshly
squeezed fruit juices, farm grown preserves and milk products coming
from the delicious milk of freely grazing cows.
The menu is topped up by Namibian meat and game dishes or even
seasonally enriched by mulberries, avocados, paw- paws, guavas or
prickly pears. African, German or international- the cuisine is
superb. Even vegetarians get theirs money`s worth due to the fresh
home-grown fruits and vegetables. This is not always easy in the
meat country Namibia.
Matunda is a very beautiful spot with old, blooming trees around
the house. It is ideal for relaxation and recreation for the stressed
out nature lovers, who want to see and do something else on their
vacation. This doesn`t mean however that there is no entertainment
and diversion to be found .
On the contrary: there`s a swimming pool with sun deck for refreshing,
which also invites to game watching at the nearby water hole. The
Mopane forest all around the hills offers shorter or longer walks
or hiking trips as well as beautiful sights into the area. Many
alien trees and plants are to be discovered and one or the other
game to be watched ( e.g. guinea fowls, Damara dik-dik, kudus).
Like on every real farm there are cattle, horses, donkeys and dogs
plus a variety of colourful birds all around in the trees and the
garden, and this all you find within healthy air at 1310m above
sea level.
There is always a very personal and individual attending of the
guests in a family style atmosphere. Nice walking trails with scenic
outlooks.
A guest farm just outside of Outjo, 45 Minutes drive to the Etosha
Nationalpark.
Local Attractions
Within the near surroundings there are a variety of places of interest.
Some of them are government owned and can be visited with a competent
and very personal guide, in a completely different way than offered
in any of the travel brochures and catalogues. There is first of
all a tour to Etosha Nationalpark which will last between one and
a few days in a comfortable LandCruiser.
Another day trip combines the Vingerklip (Rock Finger) and a visit
to rock paintings on a private cattle and goat farm.
It`s also worthwhile to join a tour to a Cheetah Protection Project
which is very informative and interesting since spotting cheetah
in the wilderness is a rather rare pleasure.
For guests who dare to dive a little bit deeper into the bizarre,
wild landscape we offer a trip to the Epupa Falls with a visit in
a Himba Kral, or alternatively to the Damaraland via Palmwag Lodge
combined with a visit of the rock paintings and engravings at Twyffelfontain
and the Petrified Forest.
There is also the possibility to see the coast and the fantastic
Erongo Mountains on a two- or three- day trip including various
stops at interesting sites along the way.
Outjo town offers a variety of small attractions which are worthwhile
visiting. More private farms invite the guests for hunting, close
viewing and even touching of a variety of animals in a private preserve,
admiring smaller or bigger caves.
A visit in Otjiwarango leads us to a crocodile farm or even the
Waterberg Plateau Park. There is also the possibility to visit a
German school in Africa right there.
These and much more proposals can be offered and arranged so that
your holidays are going to be a real experience which also adds
up to a better understanding and comprehending of our beautiful
and fascinating Namibia. We want you to come back.
Matunda therefore meets the requirements of a short stay for travellers
who travel through and organise their own trip. On the other hand
it`s also perfect for people who intend to stay longer without having
own transport.
