Our guests come from all over the world to enjoy their holidays at Free Air Guest House on Walvis Bay's Lagoon.

Accommodation
Located on Walvis Bay's beautiful Lagoon, Free Air Guesthouse offers classic comfort for holiday tourists, business people, families, and water sports enthusiasts.

Free Air’s 10 en-suite double bedrooms and one 4-bed family room feature breathtaking views across the Walvis Bay Lagoon. Rooms are equipped with very comfortable beds, international DSTV, a safe, and coffee/tea facilities as well as a shared fridge.

From 07h30 until 10h00 you can enjoy a hearty breakfast, and breakfast packs can be arranged for those who wish to depart earlier.
Our bar, providing sunset views across the lagoon, is open every day until 21h00 for guests to enjoy a drink or simply relax after a fun day.

Our in-house specialties include barbeques, seasonal crayfish dinners and stone oven pizzas upon prior request for a minimum of 8 people. There are many restaurants and pubs nearby, some within walking distance, and with the charming town of Swakopmund only 30km away, you will never get bored.
If you don't feel like driving, we can arrange transport for you to get to the airport or visit Swakopmund. We can likewise assist you in your arrangements of leisure time activities onto the lagoon or into the desert and surrounding areas.

Our friendly staff will gladly assist you by providing advice and making reservations, and will endeavour to make your stay with us a most memorable one.

After such a hard day’s entertainment, which you probably started by partaking in Free Air’s hearty breakfast, you can unwind on our open deck, watch the African sun set over the vast Atlantic Ocean or have the customary “sundowner” in our sheltered lounge and bar where you might just meet somebody interesting from the other side of the world, from Sweden or Chile, from Japan or Costa Rica.

Dinner is served at one of three restaurants within walking distance of Free Air Guest House. If you want to venture further afield, the restaurants in town are only a five minute drive away.
Whatever your needs may be, our friendly staff will assist you and will do their best to ensure that you have a fabulous time at Free Air Guest House!

The Lagoon is a RAMSAR site and indeed the most important coastal wetland in southern Africa. It is home to a large numbers of resident species and way station for African and Palaearctic migrant birds. It is also famous for its thousands of Lesser and Greater Flamingo, and has been listed by RAMSAR as a natural heritage site.
The Southern African Birding Society says: “Although there are many rare and special species, it's the sheer number and diversity, especially of visiting migrants, that is a major attraction.”

Walvis Bay offers a range of activities to enjoy even if you are not an avid bird watcher and even if you don’t just want to while your time away, reading or napping.
The city is fast becoming Namibia’s adventure capital while at the same time striving very conscientiously to sustainable manage its bio diversity and care for our sensitive environment.

Thus you can also enjoy an action-packed Walvis Bay holiday, on the water, kayaking, wind and kite surfing or sailing, watching dolphins and seals, going fishing; or on land, quad biking or taking 4x4 trips into the Namib desert, sand boarding down the dunes, angling from the shore, or taking a leisurely stroll on a paved walkway around our famous lagoon, enjoying what is quickly becoming a rarity in many places: truly clean air, as crisp and pristine as it comes. And if it's souvenir shopping you have in mind, there are two indigenous craft markets just footsteps from our front door.
